Burns Bay Cottage

Burns Bay Cottage offers a comprehensive early childhood education and care service.  Our operations are designed to ensure that the physical, social and emotional well-being of every child in our care is maintained, their health and nutritional needs are satisfied, and all whilst providing an individualised play-based learning programme to foster their intellectual and moral development.  We believe in inclusivity and ensure that every child has equal access to our services, which includes integration of children with additional needs and celebrating the diversity of our communities.  Inclusivity extends to family and community participation in the governance of the Centre, who are truly partners of the Centre with overlapping roles and responsibilities in building strong relationships with every child. 

Our aim at Burns Bay Cottage is to provide the best available care and quality education for children. As stated in Belonging, Being & Becoming – The Early Years Learning Framework for Australia (p.7), we have a vision for children’s learning where “all children experience learning that is engaging and builds success for life”.

The Early Years Learning Framework focuses on three main concepts, Belonging, Being and Becoming. These three stages are achieved by providing a nurturing environment with stimulating experiences, therefore children feel a sense of Belonging where they are able to develop a connectedness to others, Being where they can live in the here and now and are given quality time to make new meaning and Becoming, where they develop skills to participate fully and actively in society.
