About Young Explorers Early Learning Coogee Campus

Spearwood, WA, 6163

Young Explorers is a privately owned early childhood education and care group that takes great pride on our ability to meet the wider needs of our families and act quickly to achieve the highest standards in the current challenging environment.

We understand and embrace the fact that 83% of any one child’s learning is done within the first five years. Young Explorers Early Learning works alongside key professionals that ensure that it offers the best education and care facility.

We make it our highest priority that the children really do come first and we use every opportunity to recognise them as individuals with their own valuable views and ideas.

Coogee Young Explorers Philosophy

“Children have so much to offer, we must first listen to them”

Young Explorers Early Learning Coogee Campus recognises that children are competent individuals who have many strengths and abilities. We understand that in the diversity of our community, we all share a common goal  best possible outcomes for our children to instil curiosity and a lifelong desire for learning.

Our thinking is guided by Loris Malaguzzi’s theory of “100 languages of children”. We recognise that learning is a journey of exploration and that through play children gain confidence to learn new skills and try new things. They need the opportunity to share their knowledge through the many languages of a child and by having many rich and meaningful experiences. We work in partnership with the children as co-constructors, researchers, documenters and an advocate for the rights and safety of the child.

The environment plays a role in this learning. Where others see only play, we see engaging learning opportunities for children and encourage both indoor and outdoor play to enhance all learning opportunities. We will provide a safe and nurturing environment for children to practice their emerging skills, be confident and competent to take risks and explore their world. We believe that children are capable of creating their own play and strategies. We are inspired by Maria Montessori…  “The child creates his own ‘mental muscles’ using what he finds in the world about him.”

Our approach is holistic recognising that children develop on an evolving journey of discovery. To support their development, we will scaffold their learning to foster a sense of belonging, being and becoming. We see the connecting role of the family, children and teachers as an integral partnership to provide meaningful contributions to and from our young citizens of the world.

We embrace diversity and encourage inclusive practices. Cultural Heritage is an essential component of who we are. We are committed to reconciliation, therefore with a  genuine commitment to inclusion as an integrated curriculum, we teach our children values of respect and acceptance.
