About Bay Island Early Learning And Care

Macleay Island, QLD, 4184

Welcome to Bay Island Early Learning & Care, a 99 place licensed early learning long day care centre owned and operated by a Macleay Island family who chose the Southern Moreton Bay Islands to raise their own children.

This year, 2017, the centre celebrates its 10th year, providing quality early learning programs to families resident on all four (4) of the Southern Moreton Bay Islands being Macleay, Russell, Lamb and Karragarra via complementary (FREE) courtesy bus services.

Our newest bus operates on Russell Island, transporting children from Russell Island to Macleay Island via the vehicular ferry, and our Silver Service bus meets passenger ferries from/to all islands.

All meals, nappies and sunscreen are included in our low daily fees, with nutritionally balanced and delicious meals sourced through Kids Gourmet Foods and incorporate seasonal fresh fruits and vegetables daily.

Proudly celebrating our island lifestyle, we blend standards of best industry practice in the education, development and care of children with learning environments reflective of the uniqueness of this community. The centre is owner operated by a 4 year university qualified Early Childhood Specialist Teacher, and our Queensland Government approved Kindergarten program is delivered by an additional 4 year university qualified Early Childhood Specialist Teacher - together we oversee all our programs to ensure they are child centric, literacy rich, enquiry based, incorporate enriched caregiving, and importantly are play based that opportunistically harness intentional teaching moments to scaffold every child's learning.

Our programs embed the Early Years Learning Framework, the national curriculum for the early years (birth to five years), and is complimented by the Kindergarten Learning Guidelines, and the My Time, Our Place school aged curriculum.

Our 3 indoor environments, the Ocean, Bush and Rainforest rooms, are complimented by 4 outdoor environments for exploration, as well as an adjacent school aged children's facility.

The Curlew Cove Youth Facility is licensed for up to 45 school aged children, offering both indoor and outdoor activities during before and after school, as well as daily vacation programs, open to both resident families and those visiting our beautiful islands.
